The Full Moon Ritual
Dorothy Morrison – Everyday moon Magick

Begin by purifying yourself and the ritual area in whatever fashion is normal to you. Place the elemental symbols in their appropriate Quarters. A white candle to honor the Lady should be placed on the altar along with an appropriately scented incense and any necessary ritual tools. Candles in a color appropriate to specific Full Moon energy may be added if you wish. For further information and celebration ideas, see the individual moon sections. Light the candles and incense, purify and cast the Circle, and call the Watchtower Guardians to guard, protect, and witness the ritual. Move to the center of the Circle, ground and center, then say something like:

This is a place not a place
In a time not a time
This Circle is sealed
By the words of this rhyme
And floating in balance
' Twixt both worlds tonight
I shall worship the Mother
And bathe in Her light

Wait a heartbeat or two, then stand with your arms and legs stretched outward and your palms up. Invite the Mother Goddess into the Circle, saying something like:

Mother Goddess of both Moon and Star
Who rules all planets near and far
Who rules the Earth and all within
Who sets the time our lives begin
Who brings us happiness and mirth
Who gives us value and self-worth
With every loving touch She gives
Unto this plane on which we live
Please descend now from above
And touch this Circle with Your love
Please join us in this sacred rite
O Mother, bring Your love and light

Wait a moment or two until you feel Her presence. (Not to worry! You'll know when she's there.) Then recite the Charge of the Goddess in her honor:

I am the harmonious tune of the songbird
And laughter of a gleeful child.
I am the bubbling sound of the running brook
And the scent of the flowers wild.
I am the floating leave upon the breeze
And the dancing fire in the forest glade.
I am the sweet smell of rains upon the soil
And the rapture of passion when love is made.
I am the germination of seed in the Spring
And the ripening of wheat in the Sun.
I am the peaceful depth of the twilight
That soothes the soul when day is done.
I am found in the twinkling of an aged eye...
And found in the birth of a newborn pup...
Yes... Birth and Growth and Death, am I
I am the gracious Earth, on whom you sup.
I am your sister, your mother, the wise one.
I wrap you gently in the warmth of my love.
That which you seek you shall find within:
Not without... not below... not above!
Remember always, my children, be reverent
Be gentle, loving, and kind to each other
And hold sacred the Earth and its creatures
For I am the Lady, Creatrix, and Mother!

Wait a heartbeat or two, then ask the Mother to fill your Spirit with the energy of the Full Moon at hand, and help you to understand its lessons. (the following invocation is general in nature. For other invocation ideas appropriate to specific Full Moon Circles, see the individual Moon sections.)

O gracious Goddess of the Moon
Mother of Creation
Please grace me with Your presence now
Accept my invitation
Come from the starry heavens now
As Your Mysteries I embrace
I ask You, Mother, come to me
Descend upon this space

After the invocation, perform any magickal work you had in mind. When your done, hold the cakes in front of you and bless them by saying something like:

I conjure You, O meal of grain
Who sprouted in both Sun and Rain
Who's ancient seeds fulfills us all
And gains new life where e'er it falls
I bless You in this Circle round
That Your abundance may abound
And feed our world continuously
As I will, so mote it be

Eat one of the cakes. If this is a group ritual, take a bite, then pass the platter to the person on your left with a kiss and “blessed be.” When the platter reaches the altar again, proceed with the wine or juice of blessing by holding the liquid in front of you and saying something like:

I conjure You, O fruit of vine
Who grew with Wind and Rain and time
From nothing but the light of Sun
And light of Moon when day is done
I bless You in this Circle round
That Your abundance may abound
And feed our world continuously
As I will, so mote it be

Pour the liquid into a goblet and take a drink. If this is a group ritual, pass the goblet to the person on your left with a kiss and a “blessed be.” When the goblet reaches the altar again, you have one of two options: You may either take time to visit with each other in Circle, or proceed with closing the ritual. Should you choose the latter, thank the Mother Goddess for attending the ritual by saying something like:

Mother Goddess of both Moon and Star
Who rules all planets near and far
Who rules the Earth and all within
Who sets the time our lives begin
Who gives us happiness and mirth
Who gives us value and self-worth
With every loving touch She gives
Unto this place on which we live
We thank You for Your presence here
And hold You in our hearts so dear
And with our Love now, You may go
Or stay, if You should deem it so

Dismiss the Guardians and release the circle, then go outdoors and leave some cakes and wine for the animals.
